Lusaka | June 26, 2025 — With hearts full of purpose and voices lifted in praise, 31 BiLTA security personnel from across Zambia successfully completed their Basic Security Management Course, held from 23rd to 26th June 2025 at Mapalo Lodge in Lusaka. The four-day training culminated in a powerful pass-out ceremony that blended professionalism, worship, and renewed commitment to BiLTA’s mission.
The event was made memorable by moments of worship, as the security team broke into songs of praise, creating an atmosphere charged with gratitude and reverence. In a heartfelt sketch performance, the team dramatized the transformation they had undergone during training and how they plan to execute their duties with diligence and integrity. It was a moving portrayal of growth and responsibility reminding all in attendance that this role is both spiritual and practical.
Mr. Muhango, a Zambia Police Officer from Lilayi Police College and the lead trainer, delivered an encouraging address during the ceremony. He thanked the BiLTA National Executive Committee for the opportunity to facilitate the training and expressed confidence in the outcomes.
“The officers have been equipped with knowledge that will bring long-term improvement to the organization. The course package was well-designed, and I’m confident they will execute their duties with diligence,” he stated.
Mr. Muhanga highlighted the breadth of the course, which covered critical areas such as: Security Management, Criminal Law & Criminal Investigation, Portions of Criminal Procedure, Human Rights and Ethics, Introduction to the Inquiry Office, Use and recording in the Occurrence Book (OB), Proper procedures for searching premises, including legal grounds, Emergency response procedures in case of fire, to mention but a few.
These modules were engaged actively by the security personnel, who showed keen participation throughout the sessions demonstrating a hunger to grow both professionally and ethically.
Delivering the keynote address, Father Katete, BiLTA’s National Executive Chairperson, emphasized discipline, financial responsibility, and the importance of personal development.
“BiLTA values your service deeply. You are not just protecting facilities; you are safeguarding a mission translating the Word of God into the heart languages of our people,” he said. He further encouraged the officers to pursue further education and ensure their conduct reflects the Christian values of the organization they represent.
Mr. Mtumbi Goma, BiLTA’s National executive Treasurer, announced the provision of safety boots for the officers and assured that more work equipment and uniforms would be provided as resources become available.
Rev. Simangolwa, a BiLTA staff member who supervises the security personnel on behalf of the National Executive Board, commended the security team for their commitment and thanked the Excom for prioritizing the training.
“This shows BiLTA’s intentionality in building not just spiritual capacity, but also operational strength,” he said.
In their vote of thanks, the security officers expressed deep gratitude to Father Katete and the National Executive Committee for the opportunity to be trained, for the excellent hospitality in Lusaka, and the well-organized transport logistics that made the entire experience smooth and uplifting.
This successful pass-out is more than a conclusion; it is a launching pad. The BiLTA security personnel return to their stations equipped, empowered, and inspired to serve with purpose and professionalism.
